Hello My Name is Mitchell, I just found out back in March that I have Emphysema, a irreversible degenerative condition. Unfortunately I found out a little late and my case is very severe. Back on the 25th of March, I went to the hospital with complaints of pain and shortness of breath. Thankfully they treated me like a cardiac patient and rushed me in. Come to find out, I had pneumonia real bad and they had to drain 3 gallons of fluid from my lungs, 2 of which had to be removed by the doctors hand because the fluid was so thick it would not drain thru the hose. After or during, I'm not sure, removing the fluid they found I had 6 different lung infections. I was in bad shape and at the end of it all. They rushed me into surgery and removed the rotten lung portion from my body, but couldn't remove the entire lung without a replacement. I smoked for 35 years of my life and now I only have a little time left because of smoking! I can't go back in time and save myself but I sure could pass with comfort if I could help some of you quit the habit and save your lives. I made a little website for the public to see, nothing special, just a little info there about me and my illness and the affects of smoking. I'm trying to start up a little club of non smokers. Just 2 of us in the club so far! :) told you it was small. Anyway I originally made the site so I could keep track of how long I quit, how much money I saved, and how much time of my life I saved by quitting smoking. If you would like me to make you a counter just come talk to me. Maybe we can help each other live a little longer so we can help some people worse off than us. If you have time come see me at http://webpages.charter.net/imstillalive/ - If you don't, thats ok, just please don't smoke! God Bless You All!

Hi!

I've found this article to be very useful, though the information is not new.
I'm your permanent reader now!

p.s. BTW, what happened to your site template? Or is it just my browser? :)

My son knew he needed to stop smoking. He'd just seen his father die at 38 from lung cancer. That was the spark that made him realize that smoking could literally kill him. Unfortunately, every time he tried to stop, he would yield to temptation within a few days. I looked at using a nicotine patch and nicotine gum, but didn't want him to use either. For me, it seemed silly to take the same substance that causes the addiction - nicotine.
I searched for a natural and safe method to quit smoking: http://freshnewsday.com/stop-smoking.html
How it works?

I think you are wrong.

(Keep searching for "right". Semi- or illegal pills won't make it "right" for sure. - note by webmaster.)

I have a Uncle "John Victor Dial" missing since July 1, 1966 he was stationed at Howard AFB Panama Canal Zone he went home for a visit at Childress, Texas then went back to his post after about one month not heard from again. My grandparents never filed a police report don't know why not my theory is because he was living abroad and they didn't know what to do as of February 2005 I filed a police report it has been difficult after 39 years getting anyone to help I am getting help from a agency I believe is going to help. I have my Uncle name on the Prayer's list and I will not take his name off until we have answers and closure & ask all to pray for us to get the closure we need add his name to your prayer list across churches across this great nation I believe and trust in god. Go to this website for details on the case at http://www.doenetwork.us/cases/1134dmtx.html

Hello, E.Zizka,
See below re: the tradition of Dysmas, the Good Thief.
Seems the bad thief was Gestas or Gesdras.
This name is not mentioned in the Bible.
I presume that these are variants of the same name in languages in and near the Holy Land.

His story is a warning one...
I guess if you asked many people, they would say that of the Bible people he was one of the "condemned".
We don't know, if he repented after his taunting words to Jesus. (Luke 23:39) Witness that the "good thief" still presented the truth about Jesus to him on the cross after he taunted. (Luke 23:40)

(Conclusion by logic: The thieves outlived Jesus, since the bones of both thieves "had" to be broken by the soldiers in attendance. Re: John 19:32)

So--there was still time for the "bad thief" to recognize Him and repent--after all he lived past the time Jesus died and was witness to some of the signs of Matthew 27:51-53) like earthquakes and the dead returning.

The story is open ended for a reason.
We are not to judge about whether others are or will be saved.
The Lord is a merciful judge!
What He wants is Love, Truth, Faith given freely.
God bless you and your families.

Here is e-mail to Koji H.'s question.
Hello, Koji H.,
Konnichi wa.
Thank you for visiting the Directquote webpage.
May God bless you and yours and may God show his face to you.

You asked about the name of the "Good" Thief next to Jesus when he died.
The Bible does not give the name of either the good or the bad thief.
Seems there are always reasons, when certain information is not there.

In Christian tradition the "Good" Thief has the name Dismas or Dysmas.

Here is a 1997 "Picture of St. Dismas" in the Orthodox icon tradition:
http://holycross-hermitage.com/pages/st_dismas.htm
Some info from a Catholic source on St. Dismas, patron saint of prisoners, feast day: March 25:
http://www.hullp.demon.co.uk/SacredHeart/saint/StDismas.htm
Prison Ministry with St. Dismas name in the US--Lutheran, Episcopal...:
http://www.sdweb.net/pca/success.htm

On the Internet the "good" thief topic brings discussion of whether baptism is required for going to Heaven since the times of Jesus.
The question for some becomes: Was the good thief baptised before going to Heaven?

Jesus liked argument. He granted a miracle to a woman who argued about crumbs dogs ate. Matt 15:22-28
Can't you see Jesus laughing as he "made a positive exception" in her daughter's case?

Can't we "argue" with God to perform miracles now?

By the way, Japanese for "God is Love" with the character-radical for "heart" is at the bottom of the picture postcard on the webpage.
